The RESISTIR Lab

RESISTIR means “to resist,” and resistance is central to how we approach psychological science.

At the RESISTIR Lab, we study how systems of inequity shape the everyday lives, identities, and well-being of historically marginalized communities

Our research asks a central question: How do people navigate, resist, and thrive in systems not designed equitably for them?

Our research centers Latine, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC communities, with particular attention to people living at the intersections of multiple marginalized identities. We examine not only experiences of oppression and their consequences, but also the ways people cope, resist, affirm their identities, and thrive..
